Silagra is a medication primarily used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. It contains sildenafil citrate as the active ingredient — the same compound found in Viagra. Sildenafil is a PDE5 inhibitor, which means it works by relaxing the blood vessels in the penis, allowing increased blood flow during sexual stimulation. When a man is sexually aroused, nitric oxide is released in the penis. This activates an enzyme (guanylate cyclase), which increases cGMP levels, causing smooth muscle relaxation and increased blood flow. Silagra prevents the breakdown of cGMP, keeping blood vessels dilated and improving the erection response.
